Welcome.
I am a psychiatrist located in San Diego, California. I am licensed in the state of California and board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. I provide both medication management and psychotherapy to adults throughout the state of California. While I treat a wide array of psychiatric disorders, I specialize in treating those who are struggling with grief, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
My background
Along my journey toward psychiatry, I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT where I received the Award for Outstanding Academic Record, the Hans-Lukas Teuber Award for Outstanding Academics, and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. I subsequently received my MD at Columbia University and my PhD from the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at Columbia University. I then went on to complete my residency training at the University of California San Diego where I focused on treating grief, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and pursued additional training in various forms of psychotherapy including psychodynamic psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged grief disorder therapy, and dignity therapy. During residency, I received the Gold Humanism Award, APA Resident Recognition Award, Lewis L. Judd Chairman’s Clinical Research Award, and I was elected to the Laughlin Fellowship through the American College of Psychiatrists. After residency I continued my focus on psychotherapy by pursuing psychodynamic psychotherapy training as a candidate at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center.
My approach
While I find that medications are at times a very important component of treatment for various psychiatric disorders, my therapeutic style is to additionally focus on psychotherapy and optimizing lifestyle factors to treat the whole person. I will work with you to collaborate on a treatment plan that best suits your body and mind.
